Over the past month I have received at least four HP Laptops in which the screen was blank, the machine would not power on, or the internal wireless card had malfunctioned. I  researched this issue some more because they were all the same model. I learned that HP issued a recall on certain laptop models. These models include the Pavillion dv2000, dv6000, dv9000, and the Compaq Presario V3000 and V6000. From what I have read, HP received a bad batch of graphics cards. The graphics cards were overheating and damaging the internal parts of the laptop. According to the recall which can be found here, they are accepting laptops with the specified model numbers for an additional 2 years from your standard warranty. If your laptop falls under one of the specified model numbers I would contact HP immediately. Even if there are no problems with your laptop I would still call them to have the machine fixed. It may only be a matter of time before something goes wrong. HP can be contacted at 1-866-671-7362.

One additional comment I would like to add is if your laptop qualifies for the recall I would highly recommend backing up all your data before shipping it out. I have heard horror stories about people losing all their data when shipping their computer back to the manufacturer.
